Who the heck is Emily Kapikyan?
I'm a motion designer based in London, currently a senior motion designer at an award-winning creative agency in Soho. I specialise in 2D motion design across social, digital, brand and TVC, with a real love for character and story-driven animation.
I started out animating medical procedures, which taught me a lot about making complicated things easy to follow. My team actually won the BMJ Award for Digital Innovation for that work. After a few years of medical clients I wanted more creative range, so I moved into agency life, where I've worked across pretty much every kind of client and motion job going.
Outside the day job, character animation is where I get to do my own thing. In the past few years a couple of my personal films did the festival rounds, including The Juice Pirates, which I animated using charcoal. My latest, Wilty and Dandy, is a 5-minute short still doing festival laps this year. Last year one of my pieces got projected as part of OFFF Festival's projection mapping screening, seeing it that big was a real moment for me.
When I'm not at a screen, I'm training for my next taekwondo competition.
Hi-ya!
